Our Vision

The Educational Design Institute, in collaboration with students, parents, educators, school administrators, school boards and communities, will promote and encourage the creation of safe, accessible, flexible and developmentally-appropriate learner-centered environments that will challenge and motivate our students minds, strengthen their bodies, and commit them to their communities.


Our Goals

1. Establish EDI as a source for school planning and design issues through regional workshops, conferences, and publications.
2. Establish EDI as a collaborative partner with the Office of Safe and Orderly Schools of the Mississippi Department of Education and architects in Mississippi for educational facility planning.
3. Continue emphasis on Mississippi School Design Guidelines containing information concerning the design, construction, and maintenance of safe and effective school facilities.

Our Services

1. Workshops on Educational Design - EDI in collaboration with the school distric will schedule Informational workshops to inform school board members, staff, teachers, district personnel, and community of the steps in the facility development process as well as the latest innovations in educational design.
2. School/Community Focus Groups on Educational Design Issues - EDI in collaboration with the school district will schedule sessions to identify, clarify, and prioritize specific educational design issues of concern within your school district and community. A final report with recommendations wll be prepared..
3. Educational Needs Assessment - EDI in collaboration with the school district will assess the existing facilities with respect to the educational vision, programs and curriculum. Information is also obtained through on-site inspection, interviews, and meetings with school offcials and community members. The final report will include findings and recommendations.
4. Facility Improvement Strategies - EDI will assist the school district in identifying and prioritizing potential facility improvements, while investigating the merits of existing renovation, new construction, consolidation, or alternative configuration strategies. The final report will include findings and recommendations.
5. School Bond Referendum Strategies - EDI will assist the school district in the development and implementation of strategies for a successful school bond referendum.
